The benefits of blackout curtains

There are many benefits to using blackout curtains One of the biggest is that they can help you get a better night’s sleep by preventing outside light from interfering with your circadian rhythm and impacting your natural sleep cycle. Blackout curtains also provide an enhanced darkening effect to help create a more soothing and relaxing environment, which will allow you to relax and focus on getting ready for bed. Finally, blackout curtains also help prevent fading of colors in fabrics and furniture while reducing glare on computer screens or televisions.

Tips for cleaning blackout curtains

It is important to clean blackout curtains on a regular basis. There are many different ways you can clean them depending on what your needs are. If you need to deep-clean your curtains, then you will want to get a bucket with warm water and some mild detergent, mix it up, and put it in a spray bottle. You’ll also need to use an old toothbrush or sponge to scrub at any stains or marks. You can also use bleach for tough stains but be sure that it doesn’t stain your skin! If you just want a quick way of cleaning your curtains , then all you need is vinegar and water mixed together in a spray bottle–just spray it on and wipe off with a cloth. Another option is to vacuum your curtains with a hose attachment. And finally, if you don’t want to go through any hassle, there’s always the option of taking the curtain outside and spraying it down with water from a garden hose. That should do the trick.

How to hang blackout curtains

  1. Open any nearby windows and doors to provide ventilation, then close them again when you’re done.
  2. Remove your old curtains from the rod or hooks, if necessary; you don’t need to remove the curtain rods or brackets for now.
  3. Measure your window or door height and width, as well as your desired height for the tops of your panels (usually 54).
  4. Purchase enough blackout fabric in a matching color to cover all four sides of each panel (you can purchase it online or at any fabric store). Fabric usually comes in increments of one yard.
  5. Cut the fabric so that it’s twice as wide as your desired length for each panel- 48 inches for a 48-inch-wide panel, 96 inches for a 96-inch-wide panel, etc.
  6. Sew together two panels so that they are 24 inches long by 48 inches wide with their short ends touching them.
  7. Fold the material in half so that it is 12 inches long by 48 inches wide with both halves touching each other.
  8. Position this piece of fabric on top of your work area and place the two cut pieces vertically on top of it, lining up their raw edges along the bottom edge of the middle piece.
  9. Pin these three pieces together around all four edges using safety pins or sewing pins to hold them securely before sewing them permanently together (make sure not to sew through any folds!).
